ABOUT ME

Hi, My name's Hannah Williams! Art is served for a purpose and, for me, that is to evoke an emotion or sense of belonging. Creating art is my way of serving you. I wish to share my story with you and create a community that loves to create whatever's on their heart or mind.

My College Experience

I started creating art when I was 12 years old and knew that I wanted to keep creating as an adult. After graduating high school, I decided to go to John Brown University to major in Art and Illustration and minor in English. Throughout my time studying art in college, I’ve experimented with my art style and discovered different mediums that I love to work with and how to fully communicate what I’m saying through my art.

About My Art

When I was 12 years old, I started art with Acrylics. I would create a piece in 5 minutes and in my mind, it was a masterpiece. My parents were always so supportive of my art. I think that helped me stay encouraged to keep painting and drawing.

In high school, I always experimented with different mediums. I like trying new things because I believe growth comes from discomfort and new experiences. That continued to translate in the art I created in college. Because of wanting to try new things all the time, I create art in all kinds of mediums, and I love them all. A personal favorite that I always go back to is Graphite. I love that you can get so precise with it.

My Art Style

My style changes with every medium. My graphite drawings are a little more precise whereas my oil paintings are a bit looser. What medium I choose to use for a piece depends on either my mood, what I’m wanting to convey, or what emotion I want to give to the viewer. I ask myself questions like “What is the purpose of this piece?” “What am I trying to say through it?”

About Poiema.Art

I created Poiema so that my art could reach people and touch them as it touches me. I create art that gives back to God and His creation. As a Christian, I believe the Lord takes pleasure in my art so that’s what I hope Poiema can bring to others. I want to glorify God in my art and give Him all the Glory.
